Welcome to the website of Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina !
My name is Hideo Yamazaki, the newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to BiH. On behalf of all my colleagues in the Embassy, I would like to welcome you to the website of the Embassy.
It is well known that Japan has been assisting Bosnia and Herzegovina in many ways since the end of the war. On many occasions Japan has been praised for that. On the other hand, we are often asked why, despite such a great distance, Japan has been helping Bosnia and Herzegovina. The answer to this is simple.
Foremost, Japan is a peace loving country. We trust stability or peace here would bring peace and prosperity back to Japan. We also know from our experience of WWII what the destruction of a country, a society and a family means to us. Looking at the plight of BiH, we feel as if it were our own affair. Fortunately, Bosnia and Herzegovina has made a remarkable recovery in the past decade.
Maybe it is worth mentioning the basic Japanese diplomatic approach and Japan's goals for the Balkan countries which are based on three principles: the realization of Peace Consolidation, the realization of Economic Development and the realization of Regional Cooperation.
I am glad to be able to say that the existing relationships between our two countries, especially the relationships between our two governments are very good as they are based upon mutual respect, solidarity and friendship.
This can serve as a solid ground for developing cooperation in the economic sphere, that is, to foster investment from both sides. Therefore, our next challenge is to initiate a flow of ideas, people and business projects between our two countries and thus create a good environment for the already strong and healthy relations between Japan and BiH to keep flourishing.
Interaction at people's level is of paramount importance, because only such interaction can become a good basis on which business exchange can prosper. Better understandings of each other are required for better relations of both courtiers.
I hope, therefore, this website will become a gateway for exchange between people of our two countries.
