MEXT Scholarships for 2014
- 1. Research students:
- All major students who wish to study at Japanese universities as research students
- Born on or after April 2, 1979
- Scholarship term: 1.5 - 2 years (incl. 6-month preparatory education in Japanese language)
- 2. Undergraduate students:
- Social sciences and Humanities, Natural sciences
- Born between April 2, 1992 and April 1, 1997
- Must have completed a 12-year regular course of school education by March 2014
- Scholarship term: about 5 years (incl. one-year preparatory education in Japanese language)
- 3. College of technology students:
- Major in engineering field
- Born between April 2, 1992 and April 1, 1997
- Must have completed a 11-year regular course of school education by March 2014
- Scholarship term: About 4 years (incl. one-year preparatory education in Japanese language)
- 4. Specialized training college students:
- Major in Technology, Personal Care and Nutrition, Education and Welfare, Business, Culture and General Education, and other fields.
- Born between April 2, 1992 and April 1, 1997
- Must have completed a twelve year regular course of school education by March 2014
- Scholarship term: About 3 years (incl. one-year preparatory education in Japanese language)
- Application Deadline: June 7, 2013
- Applicants must send all the required documents to the Embassy of Japan in BiH (Bistrik 9, 71 000 Sarajevo) by post. Any documents which arrive to the Embassy after the deadline cannot be accepted.
- Written Exam:
- Candidates who pass the screening of documents will be invited for the written exam (will be held in Sarajevo).
- All exams (except Japanese) are in English.
- Candidates are not allowed to use any written materials or technical devices during the exams (e.g. calculators).
- Interview:
- Candidates who pass the written exam will be invited for the interview (will be held at the Embassy of Japan in Sarajevo).
- NOTE for MEXT 2014 applicants:
- MEXT will not take into consideration applicants who do not find advisors by themselves by the end of August, so it is advisable for students to start the procedure to get acceptance letter from their university as soon as possible.

- First Presentation of the scholarship programs for 2014 will be held at the University of Sarajevo, Rectorate (Senate Hall), Obala Kulina bana 7/II on Friday, May 10, at 12:00.
Application Procedure for Teacher Training Program for 2013
- This scholarship offers BH nationals, born after April 2, 1978, who are graduates of a university or a teacher-training school and have worked as teachers at elementary or secondary educational institutions or teacher training schools for at least five years in total as of April 1, 2013, the chance to study at universities/ training courses for the period necessary to complete each university’s training course (at most 1.5 years).
- Application Deadline: March 3, 2013
- Applicants must send all the required documents to the Embassy of Japan (Bistrik 9, 71000 Sarajevo) by post. Any documents which arrive to the Embassy after the deadline cannot be accepted.
- Candidates who pass the screening of the documents will be invited for a written exam and an interview at the end of March.

Fellowship for Intellectual Exchange for 2013-2014
- This program, offered by the Japan Foundation, provides scholars, researchers (except undergraduate and graduate students), journalist and professionals, under the age of 45 who are engaged in research activities in the fields of the humanities or the social sciences, or who have practical experience in research, media, or non-profit organizations, with an oportunity to conduct a research in Japan for 1-2 months within the period from May 20, 2013, to March 15, 2014.
- Application Deadline: December 7, 2012.
- Applicants must send all the required documents to Embassy of Japan (Bistrik 9, 71000 Sarajevo) by post.
- Any documents which arrive to the Embassy after the deadline cannot be accepted.
- Candidates who pass the screening of the document will be invited to interview until December 13th, 2012.
- The Japan Foundation is an independent administrative institution, whose purpose is the promotion of cultural exchange for the better international environment between Japan and other countries.
