Meeting with Mr. Anto Domic, Mayor of the Brcko District of BiH
On the 10th of December, Ambassador Kazuya Ogawa met with Mr. Anto Domic, Mayor of the Brcko District of BiH and Mr. Adem Ribic, Deputy Speaker of Brcko District Assembly.
Mayor Domic explained Brcko District maintain the co-exisistence of multi-ethnicity and provide stable politics and the importance of coming economic projects in Brcko District.
Mayor Domic also thanked Japan for its economic assistance in the field of medical, de-mining and post-flood assistance. Ambassador Ogawa also visited Brcko Health Center where Japan’s Non-Project Grant Aid of Japanese fisical year 2012 was provided and confirmed that provided video gastroscope system was properly utilized and maintained.
Ambassadors paid a joint visit to schools in BiH
9th December, Ambassador Ogawa participated in a joint school visit, which was organized by OSCE in BiH. There were other participants from diplomatic missions in BiH, including the Ambassadors of the United States, France, and the Head of OSCE mission.
Ambassadors visited the Mixed Secondary School and the Music School in Žepče, and branch school of the Primary School Maglaj in Bočinja, as they have achieved high level of integration despite different ethnicities.
Ambassadors spoke with the mayors of Žepče and Maglaj, school directors and other local representatives. They also interacted with students of these schools.

Meeting with Mr. Fahrudin Radoncic, Leader of SBB party
On 24th of November, Ambassador Ogawa met with Mr. Fahrudin Radoncic, Leader of SBB. Mr. Radoncic explained the significancec of the SBB participation in BiH reconstruction of government and the coming big infrastracture project plans. Ambassador Ogawa praised his gesture toward the political stability and expressed Japan’s support for BiH path to the EU integration.
Meeting with Mr. Mladen Bosic, Deputy Speaker of BH House of Repersentatives
On 24th of November, Ambassador Ogawa met with Deputy Speaker of BH House of Representatives, Mr. Mladen Bosic and discussed Japan-BiH bilateral relations and BH political situations. Ambassador Ogawa explained the ongoing preparation toward next year 20th Anniversary of Japan-BiH diplomatic relations. Deputy Speaker Bosic reiterated the BiH political stability and expected the increase of Japanese investment in BiH.
Japanese Emperor’s Birthday Reception
On 19th November 2015, a reception hosted by Mr. Kazuya Ogawa, Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, in honor of the birthday celebration of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan was held at Hotel Europe in Sarajevo. Many guests attended the reception including Ms. Edita Djapo, Minister of Environment and Tourism of the Government of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mr. Ivica Osim, former coach of Japan National Football Team. Other attendees included representatives from BiH Presidency, Council of Ministers of BiH, BiH and Entities’ Ministries, embassies, Japanese companies, academics and cultural communities.
At the beginning of his speech, Ambassador Ogawa asked attendees to observe a minute of silence for the victims of horrible terrorist attacks occurred in Paris on 13 November 2015 and for the victims of the attack in Rajlovac near Sarajevo on 18 November 2015. After that, Ambassador Ogawa looked back in last 6 months since his arrival on 20 May 2015, for him BiH politics were so dynamic. Ambassador Ogawa also stated that Japan would continue to support BiH on EU accession process. For marking of 20th anniversary of Japan-BiH diplomatic relationship next year, Ambassador Ogawa referred to a possibility to realize mutual high level visits and to invite Japanese economic mission to BiH. Additionally, Ambassador Ogawa introduced a launch of Japanese language proficiency test in December this year for the first time.
At the Reception 8 Japanese companies displayed or presented their PR video on their latest products and many attendees visited their booths. Attendees also enjoyed Japanese Sake.

Meeting with Mr. Mirsad Ceman, President of the BiH Constitutional Court
On November 18th, Ambassador Ogawa visited the Constitutional Court of BiH, where he exchanged opinions and information with the President of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Mirsad Ceman. President Ceman informed about the detailed legal system of BiH Constitutional Court. Ambassador Ogawa emphasized the imortance of BiH Constitutional Court and its role to protect universal values such as human rights.
Meeting with the Speaker of the House of Peoples of BiH PA, Mr. Ognjen Tadić
On 5th of November, Ambassador of Japan to BiH Kazuya Ogawa met with the Speaker of the House of Peoples of BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Mr. Ognjen Tadić, and exchanged views about bilateral relationship between Japan and BiH, current situation in BiH, and various political challenges.
Mr. Tadić expressed his gratitude for assistance to BiH offered by Japan, including the aid for damages caused by last year’s floods, and explained about social issues which BiH faces currently.
Ambassador Ogawa expressed his willingness to tighten the bilateral relationship between Japan and BiH on the occasion of Japan - BiH 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and encouraged Mr. Tadić to play a positive role for political stability in BiH.
Meeting with President of Federation of BiH, Mr. Marinko Cavara
On 1st of October, Ambassador of Japan to BiH Kazuya Ogawa met with President of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Marinko Cavara and discussed Japan-BiH bilarateral relations, Reform Agenda and political situation in the Federation.
President Cavara explained the progress of Reform Agenda and prospects of making new coalition governments in the Federation.
Ambassador Ogawa expressed hopes to enhance bilateral relations on the occasion of next year’s coming Japan-BiH 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations, through high level visits between two countries and Japanese business mission to BiH.
Meeting with Minister of Security of BiH, Mr. Dragan Mektic
On 30th of September, Ambassador of Japan to BiH Kazuya Ogawa met with Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektic and discussed the security situation, the global threat of terrorism and European refugee crisis.
Minister Mektic explained the security situation in BiH and Action Plan for tackling possible influx of refugees in BiH.
Ambassador Ogawa thanked the increased security measures taken by BH authorities in our diplomatic facilities and expressed our readiness for humanitarian assistance for the possible arrival of refugees in BiH.
On September 16th , Ambassador Ogawa met with Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Mr. Fadil Novalic and discussed strengthening cooperation between two countries.
Prime Minister Novalic expressed his gratitude for the assistance of the Japanese government in the reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina and also explained the current and planned activities for improving business environment in BiH.

Meeting with Mr. Komsic, Mayor of Sarajevo City
On 8th of September, Ambassador Ogawa visited the Mayor office of Sarajevo city and exchaged views on Japan-BiH bilateral relations, exchanges of sister cities and enhacing Japanese tourists in Sarajevo with Mr. Ivo Komsic, Mayor of Sarajevo City.
Meeting with Ms. Borjana Kristo, Speaker of the House of Representatives of BiH
On 7th of September, Ambassador Ogawa met with Ms. Borjana Kristo, Speaker of the House of Represetatives of BiH and talked about intensifing mutual exchanges of parliamentarians between two countries and issues of BiH constitutional reform.
Meeting with Mr. Denis Zvizdic, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH
On 7th of September, Ambassador Ogawa met with Mr. Denis Zvizdic, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and discussed bilateral relations between two countries.
Ambassador Ogawa stressed to strengthen bilateral relations through realizing high level visits, promoting Japanese investments and organizing cultural activities.
Mr. Zvizdic expained the progress of reform agenda in line with BiH integration into EU and expressed hopes that Japan will support its agenda and enhance Japanese investments in BiH.
Meeting with Dr. Damir Arnaut, Chair of the Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group of BiH for North and South America, Australia, Oceania and Japan
On 3rd of September, Ambassador Ogawa met with newly appointed Chair of the Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group of BiH for North and South America, Australia, Oceania and Japan, Dr. Damir Arnaut, Member of the House of Representatives of BiH and discussed on the bilateral relations.
While Ambassador Ogawa experssed wishes to strengthen the further development of Japan and BiH relationships toward the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in next year, Dr. Arnaut mentioned that their member would fully support its intentioins including realizing high level visits between two countries, enlarging investment from Japanese companies and promoting tourism.

On September 1st, Ambassador of Japan to BiH, Kazuya Ogawa, met with Mr. Vjekoslav Bevanda, Deputy Chairman of Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury, and discussed the economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the bilateral cooperation in trade and investment sectors
Minister Bevanda expressed appreciation for the Japanese economic cooperation to BiH since the end of the conflict in the 90s.

On 26th of August, Ambassador Ogawa visited Banja Luka and had a meeting with Mr. Slobodan Gavranovic, Mayor of Banja Luka.
Mr. Gavranovic explaining economic and touristic potentials of Banja Luka, expressed his willingness of Japanese companies for investing Banja Luka.
Ambassador Ogawa also explained Japan’s economic cooperation in Banja Luka. They concluded to further intensifiy economic and cultural exchanges from Japan in Banja Luka.

On 26th of August, Ambassador Ogawa visited Banja Luka for the first time since he arrived in BiH.
Ambassador Ogawa met with Mr. Milorad Dodik, President of the Republic of Srpska, Ms. Zeljka Cvijanovic, Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska.
Ambassador Ogawa exchanged views on BH political situations and Japan-RS economic relations and discussed on boosting Japanese direct inventments in RS.

They discussed the bilateral relations between Japan and BiH and the current political situation in BiH.
July 24, Ambassador Ogawa met with Mr. Igor Crnadak, Minister for foreign affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the coming 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and BiH next year, they exchanged the view for continuing economic cooperation, boosting economic relations and intensifing visits between two countries.

Ambassador Ogawa’s Courtesy visit to Mr. Mirko Šarović, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations
On July 21st, Ambassador of Japan to BiH, Kazuya Ogawa, met with Mr. Mirko Šarović, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, and discussed the bilateral cooperation in trade and investment sectors.
Minister Šarović expressed appreciation for the Japanese economic cooperation to BiH, especially the post-flood assistance in response to the flood that occurred in BiH in May 2014.
Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs joined the 20th Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide Commemoration
11th of July, H.E. Mr. Kentaro Sonoura, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Center for participating in 20th Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide Commemoration.
High level delegation from more than 80 countries and international organization all over the world attended this commemoration. From Embassy of Japan, Ambasasdor Ogawa also attended.
Ambassador Ogawa’s Courtesy visit to Mr. Covic, Member of BiH Presidency
On June 25, Ambassador of Japan to BiH, Kazuya Ogawa met with Mr. Covic, Member of the BiH Presidency and discussed the bilateral relations, BH political and economic agenda.
Mr. Covic expressed the strong desire to foster the Japan-BH relations in the field of economy, investment and tourism.
In his first interview upon arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Ambassador Kazuya OGAWA, new Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed concern at the fact that BiH politicians prioritize their personal interests and party conflicts over country's economic development and hope they should give to the citizens.
Ambassador Ogawa added that BiH politicians should do everything to attract foreign investments and direct the existing capital towards creating new jobs, commenting that Bosnia and Herzegovina has great potentials but they are underutilized.
Ambassador Ogawa also expressed hope that the politicians will manage to define a single goal that they will stream towards, for the sake of prosperity of citizens of this country. He also confirmed that Japan's economic assistance to BiH will continue.
The Peace Implementation Council Steering Board (PIC/SB) Political Directors Meeting was held in Sarajevo on 9th and 10th of June 2015.
As a member of PIC/SB, Mr. Kazuya Ogawa, Ambassador of Japan to BiH and Mr. Ryo Nakamura, Director for Central and South Eastern Europe Division, MOFA, attended the meeting from the Government of Japan.

The Presentation of Letters of Credentials of Kazuya Ogawa, Ambassador of Japan to H.E. Dr. Mladen Ivanic, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The ceremony of the presentation of Letters of Credentials of Kazuya Ogawa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, to H.E. Dr. Mladen Ivanic, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina took place May 26, 2015 at the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassador Ogawa stated that Japan would continue to support the efforts by Bosnia and Herzegovina for joining European integration and strengthen the cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina bilaterally and multilaterally.
Chairman Ivanic thanked Japan’s long-term support for the reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina and hoped that our current good relations could be further developed.
This week, Ambassador of Japan to BiH, Hideo Yamazaki has met with Members of the BiH Presidency for a farewell visit. All members of the Presidency, Mr. Ivanic, Mr. Izetbegovic, and Mr. Covic respectively thanked Ambassador for the overall support of Government of Japan to BiH, especially our assistance during last-year’s catastrophic floods.
Ambassador Yamazaki urged all members to form the state-level government as soon as possible and implement necessary socio-economic reforms which would pave the way to the process of BiH integration to EU.
The Meeting with Prime Minister of West Herzegovina Canton
27th of February, Ambassador Hideo Yamazaki together with Dr. Valentin Inzko, High Representative visited the West Herzegovina Canton government building and met with Mr. Zdenko Cosic, Prime Minister of West Herzegovina Canton and with business representatives.
On the occasion that the new government of West Herzegovina Canton was formed on 4th of February, Ambassador Yamazaki and High Representative Inzko urged strongly the newly formed canton government to fasten the economic and administrative reforms in an urgent matter and expect the improvement of job creation and employment in the Canton.
The Meeting with City Mayor of Mostar
26th of February, Ambassador Hideo Yamazaki met with Mr. Ljubo Beslic, City Mayor of Mostar. Ambassador Yamazaki referring to “the Project for Rehabilitation of Sports Center in Mostar for Community Reconciliation through Sport Activities” which was signed last month, expressed hopes that Mostar region would further deepen mutual ethnical reconciliations.
Mr. Beslic, City Mayor of Mostar showed his gratitude to the long-year contributions from the Government of Japan to Mostar. Both also discussed the potentiality of tourism in this region.
The Meeting with Mr. Mladan Ivanic, Presidency Chairman of BiH
Feb 10th, Ambassador of Japan, Hideo Yamazaki today met with Mr. Mladan Ivanic, Presidency Chairman of BiH and discussed BiH political agenda and the Japan-BiH bilateral relations. Ambassador Yamazaki appreciated the positive changes in BiH politics and Ivanic’s leadership which will pave the way to the earlier formation of BiH authorities. Presidency Chairman Ivanic expressed his firm commitment to challenge the socio-economic reforms based on the EU new initiatives. While Ambassador Yamazaki explained the detailed program of Japan’s post flood assistance to BiH, Presidency Chairman Ivanic thanked Japan’s seamless supports which were directly beneficial for BiH people.
The Meeting with Mr. Bakir Izetbegovic, the BiH Member of Presidency
Feb 9th, Ambassador of Japan, Hideo Yamazaki today met with Mr. Bakir Izetbegovic, Member of the BiH Presidency and discussed the Japan-BiH bilateral relations. First of all, Ambassador Yamazaki explained the detailed program of Japan’s post flood assistance to BiH and also reiterated the importance of the earlier formation of the Council of Ministers of BiH. Mr. Izetbegovic thanked Japan’s post flood assistance and expressed that the formation of the Council of Ministers BiH would be established very soon. We also exchanged the view regarding Japan’s investments to BiH.
