Handover Ceremony for the Project for Renovation of Primary School “19 April” Derventa

On March 16, 2016, the handover ceremony for “The Project for Renovation of Primary School “19 April” Derventa” was held in Primary School “19 April” in Derventa with the attendance of Deputy Head of Mission of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr.Kazumasa Miyazaki, Mayor of Derventa Municipality Mr. Milorad Simić and Headmaster of 19 April Primary School Ms. Elvira Miljić.
The Government of Japan has granted 89,254EUR (approximately 174,566KM) to the Primary School “19 April”, which has been damaged by the flood occurred in 2010, for replacement of windows, doors and sanitary blocks in the school building, as well as renovation of the school furniture in the school. This project ensures safety and adequate environment for primary education to around 700 pupils, and 80 teachers and non-teaching staffs of the school, and also saves heating costs by installing new joinery, which contributes to protection of the environment.
The Government of Japan attaches importance to improvement of primary educational environment, and has so far granted over 70 primary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1996 under the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects scheme.
