Handover Ceremony for the Project for Equipping Doboj South Municipality with a Garbage Collection Vehicle

On May 12, 2016, the handover ceremony for “The project for Equipping Doboj South Municipality with a Garbage Collection Vehicle” was held in Doboj South Municipality with attendance of Deputy Head of Mission of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr.Kazumasa Miyazaki, Ms. Jasminka Begić, Mayor of Doboj South Municipality and Mr. Meho Kalosevac deputy director of Public Utility Company “VIS”, Doboj South Municipality.
Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GAGP) scheme, The Government of Japan granted 77,156 EUR (150,905 KM) to Doboj South Municipality, for installing a new garbage collection vehicle. This project improves garbage collection activity and thus sanitary conditions in the Municipality. Around 5,000 residents in the Municipality enjoy benefit from this project.
Environmental protection is one of priority areas of Japan’s development cooperation to Bosnia and Herzegovina. So far, the Government of Japan has supported over 30 projects aimed at contributing to environmental protection across the country through GAGP scheme in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1996.
