Handover Ceremony for the Project for Rehabilitation of Primary School “Humci” Celic

On September 22, 2016, the handover ceremony for “The Project for Rehabilitation of Primary School “Humci” Celic” was held in Primary School “Humci” Celic, with attendance of Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Kazumasa Miyazaki, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Tuzla Canton Mr. Zlatan Muratovic, Mayor of Celic Municipality Mr. Sead Muminović, Headmaster of Primary School “Humci” Celic Mr. Amir Mehmedovic and Advisor for Education at the Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton Mr. Haris Agić
Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GAGP) scheme, the Government of Japan granted 93,226 EUR (182,334.21 KM) to Primary School “Humci”, for replacement of deteriorated joinery and skylights, replacement of roof on central and branch school facility   and on two sports halls, as well as rehabilitation of central heating system. Central and branch school facilities were constructed in 1975; hence, both school buildings were dilapidated, also for a reason that they were used as a shelter for IDPs during the 1990’s war. Total number of direct project beneficiaries is 210 pupils and 40 teachers and non-teaching staff, while number of indirect users is around 1000 persons, including local youth and members of numerous local sports-cultural associations.
The Government of Japan attaches importance to improvement of primary educational environment, and has since 1996 granted over 70 projects in the educational sector under the GAGP scheme.
