Handover Ceremony for the Project for Equipping Health Care Center Kakanj with Medical Equipment

 

On November 23, 2016, Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Kazuya Ogawa participated in the handover ceremony for “the Project for Equipping Health Care Center (HCC) Kakanj with Medical Equipment” in Kakanj, located in the north-east part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Alongside Ambassador Mr. Kazuya Ogawa, Minister of Health of Zenica-Doboj Canton Mr. Dragoljub Brenjo, Mayor of Kakanj Municipality Mr. Nermin Mandra and Director of HCC Kakanj Mr. Mirsad Tursum attended the ceremony.

The Government of Japan has granted 23,304 EUR (45,580 KM) to the HCC under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GAGP) scheme for procurement of new ultrasound machine. This project will directly benefit around 15,000 HCC patients annually, who need to have ultrasound examination due to pulmonary disease caused by air pollution, while indirect project beneficiaries include around 40,000 Municipal residents.
 
The Government of Japan attaches importance to improvement of primary health care environment. Since 2016, under the GAGP scheme the Japanese government has granted support to around 30 projects in the health care sector across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
