Handover Ceremony for the Project for Equipping Health Care Center Breza with Medical Equipment


On November 23, 2016, Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Kazuya Ogawa participated in the handover ceremony for the “Project for Equipping Health Care Center (HCC) Breza with Medical Equipment” in Breza Municipality, located in the north-east part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Alongside Ambassador Mr. Kazuya Ogawa, the ceremony was attended by Minister of Health of Zenica-Doboj Canton Mr. Dragoljub Brenjo, Mayor of Breza Municipality Mr. Munib Zaimović and Director of HCC Breza Mr. Nisad Šabanović.

The Government of Japan granted 70,813 EUR (138,500 KM) to the HCC under Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GAGP) scheme for procurement of new X-ray apparatus. This project will directly benefit around 6,000 HCC patients annually who need to have X-ray examination due to respiratory disease, while indirect project beneficiaries include around 14,000 residents of the Municipality.
The Government of Japan attaches importance to improvement of primary health care environment. Since 2016, under the GAGP scheme the Japanese government has granted support to around 30 projects in the health care sector across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
