Handover Ceremony for the Project for Rehabilitation of Laboratories for Microbiology and Chemistry in Veterinary Faculty, University of Sarajevo

           

 
On March 22, 2017, Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Kazuya Ogawa participated in the handover ceremony for the ''Project for Rehabilitation of Laboratories for Microbiology and Chemistry in Veterinary Faculty, University of Sarajevo''. Besides  Ambassador Ogawa, the ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Nihad Fejzić, Dean of the Veterinary Faculty and  Prof. Dr. Muhamed Smajlović, Vice Dean of the same Faculty

The Government of Japan granted 66,762EUR (130,576 KM) to the Veterinary Faculty, University of Sarajevo under Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects (GACGP) scheme for renovation of the laboratory of microbiology and chemistry.
 
Veterinary Faculty, University of Sarajevo employs 80 academic members and 91 supporting staff, with 564 undergraduate students and 50 postgraduate students. Since its establishment, the Faculty mission has been focused on assurance of high standards of excellence in education and reach in veterinary medicine and biomedicine, and achievement of first class standards in health protection and welfare of animals, as well as food safety and agricultural development, thus having a significant role in protecting not only animal but also public health in BiH as well.     
 
Japan remains one of the largest donors in BiH. Since 1996, Japan has granted over 1 billon KM for around 200 projects covering almost all vital sectors such as primary health care, education, demining, water supply, environment protection, infrastructure, culture, sport, and others.
