Owing to these two projects approximately 800,000 square meters of terrain in the Municipality and the City has been demined in total.
Municipality of Tesanj and City of Doboj were one of the worst landmine contaminated area in BiH, because these areas had been the front lines during the conflict in 1990s. Thanks to these two projects, the life conditions for a total of about 128,000 people in these areas have been improved. Furthermore, it is expected that these projects will contribute to local economics by effective utilization of land for agriculture and forestry.
Demining is one of priority areas of Japanese assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 1996, the Government of Japan has granted over 8.6 million EUR (approx. 17 million KM).
