Handover Ceremony for “The Project for Rehabilitation of Novi Grad Primary School in Tuzla”

  
 

On 31 October 2018, a handover ceremony for “The Project for Rehabilitation of Novi Grad Primary School in Tuzla” was held in the Municipality of Tuzla with attendance of Ambassador Hideyuki Sakamoto, Ms. Mersija Jahic, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, Mr. Jasmin Imamovic, Mayor of the Tuzla Municipality and Mr. Peda Hasic, Headmaster of Novi Grad Primary School.

Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GAGP) scheme, the Government of Japan granted 65,917.00 EUR (128,922.45 KM) to the primary school for rehabilitation of old windows and doors in a school building. The school building was constructed in 1960; however, it has never undergone renovation before this project and they were severely damaged. Direct beneficiaries of this project are about 670 pupils and 55 teachers and non-teaching staff of the school.

The Government of Japan attaches importance to the improvement of primary educational environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has granted over 80 projects in the educational sector under the GAGP scheme since 1996.
