Japanese Film Week 2019 in Sarajevo


The Embassy of Japan cordially welcomes you to the Japanese Film Week 2019, organized as part of the 35th installment of the Sarajevo Winter Festival (Sarajevska zima), airing from 20:00 h on the 28st February to 3rd March at the cinema Meeting Point (Hamdije Kreševljakovića 13, Sarajevo).
Entrance is free of charge.
 The following modern Japanese films will be screened with English subtitles:

1. (28 February, Thursday) Tremble All You Want (Katte ni Furuetero)

[ Synopsis ]
Romantic comedy film adaptation of the same-named novel by author Wataya Risa. Tells the story of a heroine who is terrified of love as she rediscovers her true self. Directed by Ooku Akiko of Fantastic Girls.
24-year-old office employee Yoshika (Matsuoka Mayu) has a secret crush on her former junior high school classmate Ichi (Kitamura Takumi), but then her colleague Ni (Watanabe Daichi) asks her to be his girlfriend. She's excited but ambivalent about being asked out by a guy for the first time in her life, and she decides to throw a reunion party so she can see Ichi again. Yoshika anguishes over her feelings about Ichi versus Ni and ideals versus reality.

[ Synopsis ]
Film adaptation based on the true story of the Fukui Commercial High School cheerleading team's victory at the U.S. Championship. High school girls pour their hearts and souls into cheer dance. Directed by Kawai Hayato of MY love STORY!!.
Newbie high school freshman Tomonaga Hikari (Hirose Suzu) joins the cheer dance team on a lark so she can root for a certain boy at school. However, what awaits her is spartan training under the direction of a fiendish teacher. Her teammates quit one after another, but Hikari and her classmate Ayano (Nakajo Ayami) manage to endure the tough practices.

3. (2 March, Saturday)    Her Sketchbook  (Sekai wa kyo kara kiminomono)


[ Synopsis ]
Original story about the maturation of an awkward girl as she ventures into the outside world. Directed by Ozaki Masaya, who helmed Rendez-vous! and has scripted numerous TV dramas and films.
Mami (Kadowaki Mugi) doesn't have a job and is closed off in her own world. Her father Eisuke (Makita Sports) struggles to strike the right distance from her and worries about her future, so he finds her a job debugging videogames. She silently plays videogames for a job that wasn't supposed to involve talking with anyone, but things don't go as planned.

4. (3 March, Sunday)      PARKS


[ Synopsis ]
Coming-of-age movie planned to commemorate the centennial of Inokashira Park in 2017. Directed by Seta Natsuki of A Liar and a Broken Girl.
A high school student named Haru (Nagano Mei) shows up at the door of Jun (Hashimoto Ai), a university student living near Inokashira Park. Haru read a letter from her late father's former girlfriend that she found in his belongings, and she has come to Kichijoji based on the address on the letter and a photograph from fifty years ago. After this unlikely encounter, Jun and Haru go to look for that girlfriend.
