Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2025

The Government of Japan in 2025 offers three different scholarship programmes to students from BiH who wish to study at universities in Japan, under the MEXT (Ministry of Culture, Sport, Education, Technology and Science) Scholarship Programme.
Since 1996, more than 50 students from BiH have visited Japan and gained their education through the MEXT Scholarship Programme.
Scholarship Programmes for 2025 include the following:
 
 

(1) RESEARCH STUDENTS (MA & PhD Degree) 

 
For: Students in any field who wish to study at Japanese universities as research students
Title upon graduation: MA / PhD
Age requirements: Born on or after 2 April 1990
Scholarship Term: 1.5 ~ 2 years (includes 6-month Japanese language education for persons with no previous knowledge of the language, or a level of knowledge inadequate for studies)

(2) UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS (Bachelor Degree) 

 
For: Students in Social Sciences / Humanities, Natural Sciences
Title upon graduation: Bachelor
Requirements: Born on or after 2 April 2000
The applicant must complete the min. 12 years of compulsory and secondary education (elementary, middle, and high school) until March 2025
Scholarship Term: About 5 years (includes a year of Japanese language education for persons who have no previous knowledge of the language, or a level of knowledge inadequate for studies)

(3) COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY (Technological Expert and / or Bachelor Degree)

 
For: Students who wish to major in the Engineering field of study
Title upon graduation: Expert / Bachelor
Requirements: Born on or after 2 April 2000
The applicant must complete the min. 12 years of compulsory and secondary education (elementary, middle, and high school) until March 2025
Scholarship Term: About 5 years (includes a year of Japanese language education for persons with no previous knowledge of the language, or a level of knowledge inadequate for studies)

APPLICATION DEADLINE


24 May 2024 

Documents must be submitted by 17:00 h (local time) on this date!(must be arrived at the Embassy on time)

Please make sure to address the envelope with your documents as depicted:
The testing for MEXT 2025 will be held in June 2024 (including the interviews). Details will be emailed to applicants who pass the document screening.

SCHOLARSHIP BRIEFING SESSION



The MEXT 2025 Scholarship Briefing will be held: 
on 22nd April 2024, beginning at 17:30 at the Faculty of Philosophy University of Sarajevo, Franje Račkog 1, Sarajevo
- on 25th April 2024,
beginning at 17:00 at the Innovation Center Banja Luka, Mladena Stojanovića 4, Banja Luka (multimedia room)

and you can attend it via the ‘Zoom’ online meeting platform.

Persons who are interested to attend are expected to register in advance at the following LINK.

The presentation language will be predominantly Bosnian / Croatian / Serbian.
