Handover Ceremony for the Project for Refurbishment for Primary School “Jovan Ducic” Cajnice

  

On April 20, 2016, the handover ceremony for “The Project for Refurbishment for Primary School “Jovan Ducic” Cajnice” was held in Primary School “Jovan Ducic” Cajnice. The Ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of Mission of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Kazumasa Miyazaki, Minister of Education and Culture of Republic of Srpska Mr. Dane Malesevic, Mayor of Cajnice Municipality Mr. Goran Karadzic, Headmaster of Primary School “Jovan Ducic” Cajnice Mr. Vojo Papic.
 
Under this Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GAGP), the Government of Japan has granted 93,431 EUR (182,735.15KM) to the Primary School “Jovan Ducic” Cajnice, for renovating deteriorated exteriors, rainwater pipes, windows, doors and sanitary blocks in the school buildings; as well as installing handrails for the outside passages to prevent slipping occurred by the icy sidewalk conditions. This project ensures safety and adequate environment for primary education to around 320 pupils, 24 teachers and non-teaching staffs of the school and also saves heating costs by installing new joinery, which contributes to protection of the environment. Furthermore, for this primary school plays a role as a meeting place and an athletic field for local residents, about 5,300 people living in this municipality are also going to gain their benefits from this project potentially.
 
The Government of Japan attaches importance to improvement of primary educational environment, and has so far granted over 80 primary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1996 under the GAGP and other Grant Assistance schemes.
