Ambassador Ogawa visited ArcelorMittal Zenica


On April 6th, Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Kazuya Ogawa, visited ArcelorMittal Zenica in Zenica, which is located 70 km north of Sarajevo and had a meeting with Mr. Biju Nair, CEO of ArcelorMittal Zenica. ArcelorMittal, as the world’s leading steel and mining company, purchased the local steel plant in Zenica in 2004 and started their operations in 2008.

ArcelorMittal Zenica employs about 2,300 workers and produces long steel products such as reinforcing bar,wire rod,welded mesh,billet, using iron ore produced domestically in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The company produces approx. 800,000 t per year. Bosnia and Herzegovina used to be a center of heavy industry in the former Yugoslavia.

By visiting ArcelorMittal Zenica, a leading company in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we could learn a lot about the industrial base of this country and it was a very fruitful visit.
